BACH 29-01-18
The idea for the album was taken from the long and exciting history of Artiom Shishkov with these Bach pieces. He learned the pieces from scratch by playing them on the street. Audience and continuous playing were the conditions to develop his approach. The album became a very personal attempt to explore unbroken musical thought as far as possible and was recorded in full takes only. The pieces were always played in their entirety. BACH 29-01-18 comprises one take of each piece recorded on the last day of production.
During the year preceding the recording, Artiom Shishkov and producer Johann Günther met for a total of nine times for joint recording and work phases. In January 2018 they finally got on a plane to the little town of Haugesund on the west coast of Norway, borrowed a car from a local musician, and drove to the even smaller town of Valevåg. There, well installed in a small wooden church, they spent three days completing nine full takes of the entire program always with a handful of listeners.
